Quinte Corner

Happy New Year to the Quinte School Group families!    There has been so much happening at QSS in the past few months and December has been extremely busy.  Our athletic teams have had a great start to their seasons including the Jr. Boys Basketball team who won the Holiday Hoops for Sick Kids tournament here at QSS.  The Holiday Hoops for Sick Kids was organized by two Leadership Students, Roberta Drummond (Harmony PS) and David Taylor (Parkdale PS).  It was an outstanding event and raised over $2,100.00 for Sick Kids Hospital in Toronto.  Our staff vs student hockey game was a huge success helping to raise funds for the Christmas Sharing Baskets.  Our Annual Cake Auction was a awesome and raised over $500 dollars for Christmas sharing.  Thanks to various community members for contributing cakes, including our very own Superintendent Trish FitzGibbon, and our Student Success System Lead Tina Jones.  Thanks also to Donini Chocolate who donated tons of chocolate to help raise funds for Christmas Sharing.  Our Leadership students organized and delivered Christmas Sharing Baskets to 26 families in our community.

Don’t forget to get tickets for our Original Musical Production “Endless Summer” featuring music of the Beach Boys.  Our music theatre students have been working all semester preparing for this production and are looking forward to performing.  Students from our feeder schools will have an opportunity to see the production but I would encourage families to come and see it!  It is playing January 22-25 @ 7pm at Maranatha.  Tickets are available at QSS.  Adults $10 and children under 12 are $5.

Our grade 8 Orientation is on January 28th followed by the Basketball Tournament at 3:00 and Parent Information Night at 6:30.  We are looking forward to hosting our future SAINTS.  The first Annual TECH DAY was a success with 60 students participating from our feeder schools.  We had excellent feedback from students and staff on the day and look forward to hosting again next year.  We are hosting an ARTS DAY in February for interested grade 8 students.  The day will provide students the opportunity to experience Visual Arts, Drama, Music and Photography.  More information will be provided to schools.

We apologize that our website is currently not active as the board is changing the platform.  Hopefully, the website will be updated soon.
