Arrival and Dismissal

Thank you for your patience as we work through our new arrival and dismissal processes.

Please view the chart below for an updated arrival and dismissal plan.  It is important that your child/children know where to meet you at the end of the day. If you are driving please ensure you park in the visitor parking lot as the other lot needs to be available for buses.

Welcome Back - September 2020!

School's back and we can't wait to see everyone again! Thank you for your cooperation and patience as we all learn new school routines. We want to assure you that your child's safety is our number one priority. We're looking forward to a great 2020-2021 school year!

To support a safe start, only some students will be attending each day for Thursday, Sept. 3rd, Friday, Sept. 4th, and Tuesday, Sept. 8th. Staff have attempted to call all families. If you are unsure, please see below for when your child will start. Thursday, September 3rd: Grade 1 - 4, some JK and SK students; Friday, September 4th: Grade 5 - 8, some JK and SK students; Tuesday, September 8th, Grade 1-8, some JK and SK students; Wednesday, September 9th, Grade 1-8, some JK and SK students; Thursday, September 10th ALL STUDENTS!

To keep your child safe, parents and visitors will need to remain outside the fenced area around the school (playground, front of school). Three entrances/exits will be accessible: 1) Auburn Street gate, 2) West side of school for students who are walking, 3) Primary doors gate for students being dropped off, or picked up by a parent (Kiss and Drop off zone now at primary gate). Staff will be supervising all areas of the yard and the crosswalk in front of the school. As in other years, you may also park on Parkdale Street, or Auburn Street and walk to the school gate to help ease traffic congestion in the parking lot. Please ensure you are physically distancing. The main entrance will be used for bus students only. All families and visitors will need a pre-arranged appointment time to enter the school.

Masks are required for grade 4 to 8 students and recommended for all other students. When students arrive they will proceed directly to their class area on the yard. At 3:20 pm they will be dismissed from their class area as well. See the map to help your child know where to go on their first day. Parents are not permitted on the playground.

School Council - Online Meeting Sept. 14th!

A Message from School Council:

Dear Park Dale Families,

Welcome back, here we are in the 2020/21 school year and nothing is as it
should be. Things look different this year and each family is making choices
about what is best for them, but no matter what the school year looks like or
what learning format the children are using, Park Dale School Council is there
for all families.

School Council works in an advisory capacity with parents, teachers and administration
to provide the tools and resources needed to enhance the student
experience.

At Park Dale we have many things to be proud of, especially our Outdoor
Learning Committee. For the past three years this committee has been working
towards improving our outdoor learning environment allowing classes to
occur in nature on school grounds. In particular we are fortunate HPEDSB and
the Director of Education put students first and support our efforts.
In 2019/20 school year we were months away of being able reach the remaining
$8,000 needed to build a 18ft by 24ft sun shelter which will provide an all
season outdoors sheltered classroom, this goal is more important then ever in
our current climate.

This year will be different, from how we meet, communicate and conduct
fundraisers. E-mails, virtual meeting, cash online, and curb side pick up will
ensure less contact and continuity. There will be a secure laptop in the main
office with assistance if needed.

We are asking a lot from our Park Dale Families, however this community is
tight knit, caring, free-speaking and up for a challenge. We need that to continue;
we need your support.

A complete list of all our School Council virtual meeting and future fundraisers
for the 2020/21 school year will be posted on the school website shortly. Our
first meeting will be Monday, September, 14th at 6pm. We want to hear from
you, if interested in attending a meeting or volunteering please email

School Council

Return to school updates

We are happy to welcome students back to school for the 2020-2021 school year. In addition to our Return to School Plan, we have launched a return to school updates page to support families.

The return to school updates page includes the following information:

  • COVID-19 family responsibilities
  • Confirmed COVID-19 cases
  • Mental health and well-being resources
  • FAQS

Please be patient as we work through these unusual times and as we receive new information and guidelines from the Ministry of Education and Hastings Prince Edward Public Health. Visit the HPEDSB COVID-19 page to find letters to families, information about school closures, resources and FAQs that were shared during the pandemic.
